The stars will be coming out to shine this Sunday, as Jew in the City celebrates an incredibly accomplished and diverse group of individuals who have maintained a Torah lifestyle through their professional ascent.
Now in its fifth year, Jew in the City’s annual Orthodox Jewish All-Stars Premiere Party is scheduled to take place in midtown Manhattan on November 5. This year’s all-stars will be in attendance, along with several previous winners. The after-party will feature small plates and hors d’oeuvres by Executive Chef Joshua Masin of NOBU Grill and Wine as well as an open bar. The All-Stars Experience Auction will offer many priceless and unique prizes. Auction winners will be announced by Mayim Bialik, star of The Big Bang Theory.
This year’s all-stars include David Mazouz, star of the Fox hit show Gotham; the Honorable Ruchie Freier, the first Chassidic civil-court judge; Neil Schloss, vice-president and treasurer of the Ford Motor Company; Frayda Ginsburg, Burberry’s legal director for the Americas; and A. Zayat, owner and breeder of American Pharoah.
They are joined by Samuel Rascoff, former director of the NYPD’s Intelligence Analysis Unit; Chaim Lebovitz of Brain Stem Cell Therapeutics, the first biotech company to produce a treatment clinically shown to reverse the symptoms of ALS; and the Five Towns’ own David Adler, award-winning author of the national bestselling Cam Jansen children’s book series.
Past Orthodox all-stars have included Senator Joseph Lieberman; Nobel laureate Robert Aumann; Ilana Wernick, Emmy-winning co-executive producer of the hit TV series Modern Family; Treasury Secretary Jack Lew; Sarah Hofstetter, CEO of advertising agency 360i; Joyce Azria, creative director of BCBG Generation and creator of Avec Les Filles; and Anne Neuberger, chief risk officer of the NSA.
Jew in the City is an organization dedicated to rebranding Orthodox Judaism to the world. Founded by Allison Josephs in 2007, Jew in the City harnesses the power of social media to break down stereotypes about religious Jews with a humorous, meaningful look into Orthodox Judaism. Through its website (JewintheCity.com) and accounts on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more, Jew in the City explains important Jewish concepts like Shabbos and kashrus in a pleasant and easy-to-understand manner to anyone who is curious to learn about Orthodox Jews and observant Judaism.
Allison Josephs was named one of the Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36” in 2013, one of NJOP’s Top Ten Jewish Influencers in 2012, and one of Algemeiner’s Top 100 People Positively Influencing Jewish Life in 2017. Often quoted in the media on issues relating to Jewish life and observance, she provides Orthodox Jewish cultural-diversity training to top corporations such as Con Edison and NYU Langone Medical Center and is a sought-after speaker, delivering inspirational lectures throughout the nation.
